This house was built in 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mulik, a rich Bengali merchant, who had a passion for collecting art works.The house remains a habitation for his descendants, and the current living King Rajendra Mulik is the family of Bahadur.Raja Rajendra Mulik was the adoptive son of Nilmoni Mullik,
who had built a Jagannath temple, which was before the Marble Palace, and is still standing within the premises, but is accessible to family members only.
